Overview
Gateway equipment for the office and home is becoming hard-pressed to handle the year-on-year development of advanced and varied network services, and degradation of service quality due to the load on an increasing number of devices is causing much concern. The RENA-SoC*1 is a network processor developed by applying unique load-isolation technology. By isolating the processes of networks and applications with respect to each other and by executing applications by using two CPUs, the respective processes can be executed unfailingly, and customers can be provided with services with assured quality.
Features
- A network processing engine enables 1 Gbit/s transmission performance under any utilization conditions.
- Conventional services and new services (like Home ICT) are excuted independently, and optical IP telephony is implemented without fail.
- Hardware tools that can perform quality monitoring of HDTV*2, etc. at packet level are implemented.
- A QoS*3 mechanism guarantees quality in both the downstream and upstream directions is implemented.
- IPsec-VPNs*4 can also be handled at performance of 1 Gbit/s.
Application scenarios
- Platform for home gateway, office gateway, business phones, etc.
- Broadband router with gigabit performance
- IP-VPN gateway for financial and security serves
- Firewall appliances
- Packet-shaping equipment
- *1 RENA-SoC: RENA-System on a Chip
- *2 HDTV: High Definition TV
- *3 QoS: Quality of Service
- *4 IPsec-VPN: IP security-Virtual Private Network
