Prevention of global warming

Greenhouse gas emissions other than CO2 emissions (CO2 emissions-equivalent)
This is a graph showing greenhouse gas emissions other than CO2 emissions (CO2 emissions-equivalent) over the past four years. Such emissions for fiscal 2009 amounted to 8,293 tons of CO2, representing a decrease over the previous year.

Electric power consumption
This is a graph showing electric power consumption over the past five years. Electric power consumption for fiscal 2009 was 8.85 billion kilowatt-hours, representing an increase over the previous year.

Clean energy generation
This is a graph showing the amount of clean energy generation over the past five years. Clean energy generated during fiscal 2009 amounted to 4.06 million kilowatt-hours, representing an increase over the previous year.

Number of clean energy generators
This is a graph showing the number of clean energy generators installed over the past five years. 183 such generators were in operation in fiscal 2009, an increase of 30 over the previous year.

Number of low-emission company vehicles
This is a graph showing the number of low-emission company vehicles over the past five years. 553 vehicles were owned in fiscal 2009.

Fuel consumption by company vehicles
This is a graph showing the amount of fuel consumption by company vehicles over the past five years. 29,366 kiloliters of gasoline and diesel were used in fiscal 2009, a decrease over the previous year.

Waste reduction

Waste and excess fill from construction sites
This is a graph showing the amount of waste and excess fill from construction sites over the past five years. 270,000 tons of construction waste were generated in fiscal 2009, 255,000 tons of which were recycled.

Waste and excess fill from civil engineering works
This is a graph showing the amount of waste and excess fill from civil engineering works over the past five years. 182,000 tons of civil engineering works waste were generated in fiscal 2009, 166,000 tons of which were recycled.

Office waste
This is a graph showing the amount of office waste generated over the past five years. 59,000 tons of office waste were generated in fiscal 2009, 46,000 tons of which was recycled. As a result of a 16,000 ton reduction through incineration, final disposal waste was reduced to 9,000 tons.

Medical waste
This is a graph showing the amount of medical waste generated over the past five years. 773 tons of infectious medical waste and 957 tons of non-infectious medical waste were generated in fiscal 2009.

Amount and percentage of old telephone directories collected
This is a graph showing the amount and percentage of old telephone directories collected over the past five years. 33,000 tons of old directories were collected in fiscal 2009, representing 63.5% of all directories distributed.

Measures against environmental risk and ozone layer depletion

Asbestos removed from NTT Group facilities
This is a graph showing the amount of asbestos removed from NTT Group facilities over the past five years. 264 tons were removed in fiscal 2009.

Amount of specified halon held for fire extinguishing equipment
This is a graph showing the amount of specified halon held for fire extinguishing equipment over the past five years. 955 tons were held in fiscal 2009.

Amount of specified chlorofluorocarbons used in air conditioning equipment
This is a graph showing the amount of specified chlorofluorocarbons used in air conditioning equipment over the past five years. 9.8 tons were held in fiscal 2009, a decrease of 40% over the previous year.

Number of centrifugal chillers (that use CFCs) and number of units removed
This is a graph showing the number of centrifugal chillers (that use CFCs) and number of units removed over the past five years. One unit was removed in fiscal 2009, leaving 45 units.

Current status of NTT Group's ISO14001 certification acquisition
This is a graph showing the percentage of employees working at ISO 14001-certified sites. 56.1% of NTT Group employees worked in such sites in fiscal 2009, an increase of 1.9% over the previous year.

Number of recycling boxes installed and amount of confidential documents collected
This is a graph showing the number of recycling boxes installed and amount of confidential documents collected over the past five years. The number of boxes in operation in fiscal 2009 increased by 367 to 8,462 boxes, and amount of documents collected increased by 3,000 tons to 12,829 tons.

Participants in Operation Clean Environment
This is a graph showing the number of participants in Operation Clean Environment over the past five years. There were 61,899 participants in fiscal 2009.
