Higher Voltage Direct Current Power Feeding System
Developing of a high efficent, reliable and cost-effective power feeding system
Project
Up to now
- Recently, the power consumption and operating cost of data center has increased more and more.
- For high power ICT equipment, it is difficult to install a large amount of ICT equipment.
At the NTT
We have developed a highly efficient higher voltage direct current power feeding system.
Energy consumption in telecommunications and data centers has been increasing along with the increasing demand for ICT business. ICT equipment supporting these services consumes a lot of energy and the diameters of power cables, which cause construction and cable space problems, also increase due to large load currents. Moreover, the scale of ICT systems has increased because much more equipment is being installed in telecommunication buildings and datacenters. We are developing a "higher voltage direct current power feeding system" to reduce energy consumption. This DC power feeding system supplies power to ICT equipment with about 400 V of direct current (DC). It has fewer power conversion stages, a DC power feeding system is more efficient than conventional alternating current (AC) system, and it reduces energy consumption. It is also more reliable because it can back-up power directly to batteries. Furthermore, this higher voltage DC power feeding system can also reduce cable diameters, which in turn can reduce facility costs, and provide flexibility in device installation.
Point!
Our "higher voltage direct current power feeding system" helps conserve energy in telecommunications and data centers. Thereby this power feeding systems are expected to providing an environmentally friendly ICT environment.
