Since 1997, in an Internet market that is expanding on a global scale, NTT Com has been directing its efforts towards increasing the capacity of its core communication cables (IP backbone) to ensure stable, high-speed transmission of data throughout the world. Now that many Internet service providers have signed on with NTT Com, the communication cable capacity between Japan and the U.S., which represents the largest communication volume handled by NTT Com, has been increased to 300 Gbps, one of the highest in the industry (as of the end of January 2010).
Demand for the Internet has grown explosively in recent years with the spread of broadband and increasing use of video content. Bandwidth has increased by 1.5 times in the past year and approximately tripled in the past three years. In response to the remarkable worldwide growth in the Internet market, NTT Com is working to expand its global network, not only between Japan and the U.S., but also in the establishment of new routes within Asia and elsewhere.
Going forward, as a global Tier 1* carrier, NTT Com will work to provide a communication environment that includes the industry’s highest level of quality assurance and nonstop 24-hour customer support on a global scale, every day of the year.
* Tier 1 indicates a large-scale ISP group that has no need to purchase Internet routing information from other carriers.

In its medium-term management policy, NTT DATA has adopted the goal of ¥300 billion in overseas sales by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013. NTT DATA is aiming to grow to a scale that enables it to provide its customers with the highest level of service in a global environment. NTT DATA is working to improve its business foundation in the large markets of Europe and North America, expand and enhance global coverage, and, in particular, develop a support system for enterprise resource management systems such as SAP. Specifically, in 2008 NTT DATA acquired the German firm itelligence AG, an SAP global partner firm which has bases in Europe and the U.S., and expanded into European markets, including the Netherlands, Czech Republic and France, by capital alliances through itelligence AG. In 2009, NTT DATA established NTT DATA Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. in Singapore as a regional management subsidiary for the Asia Pacific region, through which NTT DATA strengthened its support system in Australia and Malaysia by capital alliances with local companies. NTT DATA will continue to expand coverage and resources in emerging markets which are experiencing strong growth, and offer improved support to its global business customers on a global scale.
