Promotion of services available “anytime, anywhere” by Wi-Fi

Recently, not only PCs, but also Wi-Fi compatible portable gaming consoles, smartphones, and tablet devices, among other things, have become the focus of attention as Internet devices.  NTT Group is working to create a service environment where such Wi-Fi compatible devices can be used with comfort through high-quality networks both when at home and when outside the home.  Going forward, NTT Group will work to promote services that customers can use “anytime, anywhere.”

Provision of mobile Wi-Fi router and access point mode compatible mobile phones

NTT DOCOMO has enabled Wi-Fi compatible devices to be used in its 3G network (FOMA).  Even in locations with no wireless LAN access points*1, so long as users are in a FOMA service area, they can connect to the Internet through NTT DOCOMO’s high-quality network by using a mobile Wi-Fi router or a handset compatible with an access point mode.
NTT DOCOMO will capture communication traffic generated from Wi-Fi devices and thereby increase packet communications service revenues.
