NTT Group produces approximately a hundred thousand
tons of industrial waste
such as telegraph poles and telecommunications equipment
per year.
We believe it is our corporate responsibility not
only to voluntarily dispose of waste in environmentally safe ways but also
to maximize the reuse of waste through recycling.
This includes such measures as recycling nickel-cadmium
batteries used in cordless telephones, and collecting telecommunications
equipment which has been removed to be effectively utilized.
We intend to realize telecommunications in symbiosis
with the Earth by stabilizing wastes at approximately 1990 year through
the year 2000.
