By striving to actively develop and disseminate the most advanced ICT services and technologies, the NTT Group contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions across society and seeks to realize a low carbon future.
The NTT Group has been implementing an environmental labeling system for solutions formulated in fiscal 2010, which enables us to communicate the environmental contributions made by ICT to customers in a manner that is easy to understand, and to promote Group environmental efforts. Under the system, ICT solutions offered by Group companies that provide a certain level of environmental load reduction effects are certified as environmentally-friendly solutions and the companies are allowed to display the environmental label designated by the NTT Group. A solution must meet the criteria of demonstrating a reduction rate of over 15% based on a quantitative assessment of the reduced volume of CO2 emissions.
The certified solutions and their assessment results are published in the Environmental Labeling System for Solutions section page.
Dimension Data has also established the goal to lower the amount of CO2 emissions that can be reduced from the use of ICT by its customers to more than 1.8 million tons of its own emissions between October 2014 and October 2018. The company also declared that it would lower its own emissions to less than one million tons over the same five-year period.
By January 2017, Dimension Data reduced its own CO2 emissions to less than one million tons and it also became carbon neutral, meaning its own CO2 emissions are less than those reduced through the utilization of ICT by its customers.
Dimension Data is focusing in particular on migrating servers to cloud systems and reducing the movement of people by utilizing visual communication technology as key areas of focus for conserving energy with ICT. Dimension Data is using such technologies and skills to achieve the goal of lowering customer CO2 emissions by more than 1.8 million tons compared to its own emissions.
