Simple biomolecular sensor for medical applications    What kind of technology is it? It is essential to know the concentrations of bio-molecules in body fluids during diagnosis, and a rapid simple detection technology has long been hoped for. We employed SPR technology for the rapid detection of biological molecules. Also we used enzymatic reactions and immuno-reactions for molecular recognition. By combining these technologies we can detect a wide variety of biological molecules in a simple format, where previously different kinds of large analytical instrument were required. We are now working on a multi functional sensor that can be used anywhere to readily measure biological molecules.        What are the features? Measurement using a compact portable device Can be used to identify biological molecules rapidly and simply Small sample volume      What can it do? Rapid diagnostic tests at hospitals and advanced health-care management by individuals that are currently time-consuming and costly could be undertaken much more easily and cost-effectively with an SPR biosensor. We also plan to develop a human-network interface based on information about chemical substances by combining various kinds of chemical sensors.
