Environmental Policy Living in peace and harmony with the global environment is surely the wish of each and every one of us. Global environmental problems, however, are increasing in severity, and against this background, information sharing is expected to become an important infrastructure in the construction of an environment-friendly sustainable society. In carrying out R&D activities associated with a safe, secure, convenient, and comfortable information sharing network, The NTT Information Sharing Laboratory Group will endeavor to create R&D results that contribute to the environment and to decrease the environmental load generated during research and development work. The NTT Information Sharing Laboratory Group will: (1) Observe laws, regulations, and agreements related to the environment and promote environmental preservation activities based on the NTT Group Global Environment Charter; (2) Promote the creation and provision of R&D results that contribute to the environment by - Assessing research and development based on NTT green R&D guidelines, and - Evaluating environmental contributions using life-cycle assessment, environmental accounting; (3) Work to prevent environmental pollution that accompanies R&D activities by - Using energy and resources efficiently, - Promoting the recycling of waste, - Managing chemical substances appropriately, and - Promoting the purchasing of green products; (4) Establish communication channels both inside and outside the research laboratories by participating in regional environmental preservation activities and releasing environment-related information; and (5) Continually enhance its environment management system.
