(A) The Fourier spectrum of a moving pattern is a line in the spatiotemporal frequency space.
(B) When the pattern is seen though slits, noise components are added (parallel lines). In the frequency domain, correct perception of the original pattern implies selective extraction of the original signal by a filter.
(C) For a symmetric filtering window, the upper recovering limit is the Nyquist spatial frequency (dashed lines). In contrast, for an asymmetric window, there is no such a limit. The use of an asymmetric window implies direction-selective filtering. |
