NTT Applies for Approval of New ISDN Payment System

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) has applied to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications for approval of "INS-Net 64 Light," a new payment system which will allow new users of the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) to substantially reduce the cost of installing ISDN lines. Users will pay only nominal engineering fees and an additional 640 yen with their basic monthly fee. The service is scheduled to be inaugurated this July.

This new, low-cost system, as well as growing interest in the Internet, are expected to stimulate further use of INS-Net 64, NTT's digital network services.
