NTT Submits Call Rate Reduction Plan for Approval

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) announced today that it has submitted a long-distance call rate reduction plan to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications for approval.

Under the plan, NTT will reduce the rate of a 3-minute long-distance call to 90 yen from the current one. This plan will enable NTT to achieve its original target of reducing the farthest toll call rate to 100 yen per 3-minute by the year 2000 earlier and will introduce a consolidated pricing system that combines distance rate bands.
