NTT Acquires Telecommunications License in the U.S.

On January 26, 1998 (U.S. Eastern Time), NTT America, a U.S. subsidiary company of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), acquired through its wholly owned subsidiary, ntta.com, a license to provide international leased line services from the United States to Japan. The license application was submitted to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on September 5, 1997.

With the license, the NTT group is now ready to connect Europe, the United States and Asia, including Japan, with global end-to-end services, such as leased-line and frame relay services, targeting multinational corporations. The group began providing selected global telecommunications services last September.
