NTT Worldwide Network Corporation Applies for International Telephone Service License
NTT Worldwide Network Corporation applied today with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) for international telephone service license and prefix codes.Subject to MPT approval, NTT Worldwide Network Corporation expects to launch international direct dialing telephone services and value-added services such as virtual private network (VPN) in order to meet diversifying needs of customers. The company will start the new services in October 1999, carrying calls to the U.S., China, Korea, the Philippines and Singapore. More areas will be added as customer demand expands.
NTT Worldwide Network Corporation obtained an international leased circuit service license in December last year. Since then, the company has been preparing to provide international high-speed digital private line services mainly for corporate customers. NTT Worldwide Network Corporation is also a consortium member of the China-U.S. Cable Network Project.
