NTT Department Receives ISO9001 Certification
The Sales & Marketing Department II of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation's (NTT) Business Communications Headquarters on February 10 was granted ISO9001* status in the field of information communication system integration, certifying that its management systems are in full compliance with high-quality standards set by the International Standards Organization (ISO). Inspection for compliance with the ISO9001 standard was carried out by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), a leading certification body which certify that company operations employ high- quality systems required for ISO9001 registration. Accreditation for the ISO9001 was acquired by authorizing bodies in the UK (NACCB) and Japan (JAB). The department, which provides customers with network integration and system integration services, began preparing for ISO9001 certification in December 1996, as part of an effort to realize complete customer satisfaction in all phases of service, including design, construction and maintenance of information systems. Based on this experience, NTT plans to provide other companies with consultation on the acquisition of ISO9001 certification. Meanwhile, 16 Business Communications Groups expect to acquire ISO9001 certification by the end of fiscal 1998. *The ISO established ISO9001 in 1987 and revised it in 1994 to provide businesses with a reliable worldwide standard for quality assurance in the international marketplace.
