NTT Group to Participate in CeBIT '98
Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) will exhibit in CeBIT '98, an international
telecommunications exhibition to be held between March 19 to 25 in Hanover, Germany.
This will be the first-ever CeBIT exhibition in which NTT Group companies - NTT, NTT Mobile
Communications Network, Inc. (NTT DoCoMo), NTT Advanced Technology Corporation and NTT Deutschland
GmbH - will jointly organize a booth. The booth, located in Building 17, will span approximately
350 square meters.
This year marks the beginning of a major effort by NTT to develop international business. During the
exhibition, NTT will promote its multimedia technology and telecommunications products and services
for the global market under the slogan "Your Faithful Global Partner."
NTT will hold demonstrations during the exhibit to emphasize the group's high technology for total
network and system solutions. Some of the major exhibits will be:
- Arcstar Global Communication Services.
- Wideband CDMA (W-CDMA) system, a promising candidate for a next-generation mobile communications
system (IMT-2000): The European Telecommunications Standard Institute (ETSI) decided in January 1998
to adopt a radio interface technology that is based on the W-CDMA technology for IMT-2000.
- Electronic money system scheduled to be tested by 100,000 users in Japan this year.
- Three-dimensional virtual-reality interspace demonstrating electronic commerce applications.
- System for developing management systems for NTT's high speed backbone network.
- TIPS (Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Services)- based on NTT's R&D achievements.
