NTT Updates Guide to Interconnecting with NTT Networks

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) has published a new version of Guidebook for Interconnection with NTT Networks (June 1998) to help telecommunication carriers understand the new system for interconnecting their networks and NTT's. Interconnections were developed previously on the basis of agreements negotiated individually by NTT and each carrier. Interconnection agreements are now standardized, however, with the Basic Rules for Interconnection enacted into law and NTT's interconnection tariffs approved by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. In accordance with the newly introduced rules, NTT will continue taking an active and positive approach to opening its networks to other telecom carriers. The guide is as follows: l Chapter One: Overview of Interconnections with NTT Networks l Chapter Two: Procedures of Interconnection l Chapter Three: Outline of Relevant Laws and Interconnection Tariffs l Chapter Four: Basic Rules for Interconnection and NTT's Approach The guide can be viewed or obtained at the NTT Information Station on the first floor of the NTT headquarters, and at the Interconnection Promotion Office of any regional headquarters. NTT will also send the guide upon request to relevant individuals. In addition, it can be viewed on the corporation's homepage at http://info.ntt.co.jp/nttopen/guidebook /index-j.html. Although the guide is currently available in Japanese only, an English version is to be published on July 15, as well as released on NTT's homepage at http://info.ntt.co.jp/nttopen /guidebook/index-e.html.
