171 Disaster Emergency Message Dial

171 Disaster Emergency Message Dial is a service that enables you to post and check safety status and other information by voice, using the phone number of a person in the disaster zone as a key.

The 171 service can be used from fixed lines, INS net, public phones, HIKARI Denwa optical fiber telephones, and special public phones that are registered with either NTT East Japan or NTT West Japan, as well as NTT DOCOMO mobile phones.

Disaster Message Board Service

NTT DOCOMO provides Disaster Message Board Service (in Japanese and English versions)to check on the safety of relatives and friends by ordinary mobile phone or smartphone in the event of a major disaster. When an earthquake with as eismic intensity of 6-lower or greater, or other major disaster occurs, th is message board service enables those living or staying in the affected area to use their DOCOMO mobile phones or smartphones*1*2 to post status information so that other people worldwide can check *3 on their safety through the Internet, etc.The service includes features for notifying by mail relatives and friends whosemail addresses have been registered beforehand when the person concerned posts status information (Disaster Message Board Notificatlon Mail) and for requesting a person in the affected area to post status Information on the message board (Disaster Message Board Request Mail).

*1 An sp-mode subscription is required to post status information from smartphones. Furthermore, Disaster Message Board (simple version) of Disaster Kit is required to post status information from Wi-Fi. *2 If you are using BlackBerry® Bold™ (requires upgrading to software version 5.0.0), BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9780, or BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900, Disaster Message Board Service is available from docomo service portal. (Installation of docomo service portal is required.) *3 Information posted from an affected area can also be checked using a non-DOCOMO mobile phone or a home PC.

Disaster Voice Messaging Service

NTT DOCOMO provides Disaster Voice Messaging Service to deliver safety status information as voice messages in the event of a large-scale disaster.
Disaster Voice Messaging Service is a disaster service for delivering voice messages by packet communications instead of voice communications when an overflow of voice communications makes it difficult to establish a connection in the event of an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 6-lower or greater or other major disaster occurring.
When you post a voice message, the party you want to hear the message is notified by SMS (Short Message Service). (If you use Disaster Kit, you will be notified by Disaster Kit when the other party receives the SMS.)
Furthermore, this service is available with Disaster Kit when you use a smartphone or tablet.

Disaster Kit

Disaster Kit is a dedicated smartphone and tablet application for using Disaster Voice Messaging Service, Disaster Message Board Service and Area Mail Disaster Information Service.
This application is required to send a message with Disaster Voice Messaging Service, use Disaster Message Board (simple version)*, and check received area mail and the receive operation of Area Mail Disaster Information Service from a smartphone or tablet.

Web171 Disaster Message Board

This is a message board for posting and checking safety status and other information in text format over the Internet.

When an earthquake or other disaster strikes, people living in the affected areas (including evacuation centers etc.) can access the Web171 Disaster Message Board via the Internet to post text messages using a phone number as a key. These text messages can be checked from anywhere (including overseas) using a phone number as a key, and additional text messages can be posted. Notifications of posted messages can also be automatically sent.*

* Up to 10 e-mail addresses can be registered as auto-notify contacts. One phone number can be registered as a voice auto-notify contact. Note that certain telephone numbers, including international telephone numbers, Free Dial and other collect call numbers, 110, 119 and other special service numbers, cannot be registered as auto-notify contacts.

J-anpi All-Japan Safety Confirmation Portal for Disaster

J-anpi (All-Japan Safety Confirmation Portal for Disaster, http://anpi.jp/top?lang=en) enables the one-stop searching of all safety status information* (text information) posted on the disaster message board services of NTT East, NTT West, NTT DOCOMO and other communications carriers and on similar services provided by news media, private enterprises and other organizations just by launching a Web browser on a PC, mobile phone and other device to access the site and enter either a telephone number or name as a search parameter.

* Safety status information collected by NHK, NTT East, NTT West, NTT docomo, Japan Post, etc. in the event of a major disaster (Data collected according to the judgment of each company)
