We are undertaking research and development (R&D) activities aimed at achieving the “Information-Sharing Society”, which will ultimately change the quality of every aspect of daily life. Our goal is to position this R&D at the forefront of NTT’s business expansion program, to pursue challenging basic research that will have a profound impact on society, and to make an active contribution to solving environmental problems. We recognize the importance of environmental protection activities, and each individual in the NTT Science and Core Technology Group will contribute actively to their success

1. We will undertake environmental protection activities in compliance with the Global Environment Charter of NTT Group and will follow laws and regulations regarding the environment and other requirements as applicable.
2. To fulfill this Environmental Policy, we will evaluate the environmental impact of out R&D activities, and establish and maintain environmental objectives and target programs, considering their technical and economic viability.
3. We will endeavor to conduct research and development for science and core technology in connection with products that contribute to environmental protection by assessing their environmental impact starting with the stage of research development.
4. To prevent pollution resulting from R&D activities and reduce environment impact, we will implement the following.
   (1) Effective use of energy and natural resources
   (2) Appropriate disposal of waste materials, and promotion of recycling
   (3) Appropriate management of chemical substances
   (4) Promotion of green procurement
5. We will ensure the continual improvement of our environmental management system through internal environmental audits and management reviews at planned intervals.
6. We will promote wide-ranging communication with society by participating in environmental protection activities and providing environmental information.
7. We will request the understanding and cooperation of all R&D partners in the Group's environmental protection activities.
