NTT Submits Telephone Call Rate Reduction Plan for Approval

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) announced today that it has submitted a long-distance call rate reduction plan to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications for approval.

Under the plan, NTT will reduce the rate for daytime calls over 100 kilometers. A comparison with the current rate follows:

NTT intends to implement the new rate in February, 1997 after receiving approval from the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications.

Total reduction will be approximately 60 billion yen per year, and savings for a subscriber will be approximately 900 yen per year.
